Pink Society Events


Orange U Yoga – Syracuse University

The Libby Ross Breast Cancer Foundation and the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority’s Alpha Chapter at Syracuse University are teaming up to host the first annual Orange U Yoga event, the beginning in a series of youth-oriented initiatives in which LRBCF will use yoga to spread awareness of the disease among a younger generation of women.

The Gamma Phi will sponsor a series of yoga classes on Sunday, February 27th from 10:00am – 3:30pm in the Hall of Languages. Proceeds will benefit The Pose for Pink Yoga Program, which provides support to women touched by cancer through the healing powers of yoga.

The event was held Saturday, September 27th, 2008 at the beautiful Llardo Boutique in New York City, honoring Ana Ortiz – star of the hit series UGLY BETTY.

Celebrated Actress and Musician and previous recipient of the WEW award, Vanessa L. Williams, presented the award to Ortiz. The star studded evening was hosted by Glow International Group and Lladro who donated 10% of all sales from the night of the event to The Libby Ross Foundation Yoga Program

2010 Fall Three Day Yoga Retreat

Wild Dunes Resort
Isle of Palms, SC

35 Participants joined us for this unique healing opportunity that included gentle and restorative yoga classes taught by Tari Prinster, Yoga Program Director and Principal LRF Yoga Teacher and Pamela Meriwether, LRF Yoga Program Teacher. We offered panel discussions with well informed and knowledgeable speakers as well as relaxation and pampering in a lovely nature filled oasis.

Retreat participants traveled to South Carolina to stay at Wild Dunes, which is located less than 30 minutes from the charm and grace of historic Charleston. The resort is nestled on the northern tip of Isle of Palms, a lush barrier island off the coast of South Carolina. Participants were only responsible for the cost of accommodations and individual travel costs that were arranged by the Foundation and Wild Dunes. Meals were included and provided by Wild Dunes.

Pose for Pink Yoga Class with Zobha & PURE Yoga East!

On October 24th PURE Yoga East hosted a special class benefiting the LRBCF Pose for Pink Yoga Program. The event was sponsored by Zobha and each participant received a limited edition Pink Zobha top in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. This special yoga class was open to all levels and ages, and taught by top instructor Kay Kay Clivio, a Zobha Circle of Grace member and internationally experienced teacher. All proceeds benefitted the expansion of our Pose for Pink Yoga Program, and the suggested donation was $40.00 for the class.

2010 Spring Three Day Yoga Retreat

The Libby Ross Foundation and Swarovski North America held the Spring 2010 Three Day Yoga Retreat for Breast Cancer Survivors at the Asilomar Conference Grounds® in Monterey California on May 21st – May 23rd, 2010.

Asilomar is known as Monterey Peninsula’s “Refuge by the Sea” is located on 107 acres of protected beachfront land, within the quaint and scenic town of Pacific Grove. Nestled along the shoreline of California’s famed Monterey Peninsula, Asilomar is a serene ocean front retreat cradled by forests and white sand beaches.

Thirty-five amazing women’s cancers survivors joined the Foundation for this unique healing opportunity that included gentle and restorative yoga classes taught by specially trained yoga instructors, a panel of knowledge presenters, as well as relaxation and pampering in a lovely nature filled oasis. We were honored to have the below key speakers share their vast knowledge with the participants at the retreat:

Dr. Brian Ellinoy – Helping Empower You to Better Health
Dr. Ellinoy has pioneered a new kind of pharmacy practice as an Integrative Pharmacist Consultant. In addition to keeping current with advances in drug therapy, Dr. Ellinoy has in-depth training in herbs, supplements, homeopathy and nutrition. With knowledge and experience in both conventional and complementary worlds of health care, he is in a unique position to help clients with their medication-related problems and also with the safe, efficacious use of nutritional supplements and other non-conventional therapies.

Caspar Poyck – Consciously Culinary
Culinary Therapy is a new modality of Occupational Therapy created by chef and clinical mind-body therapist Caspar Poyck. Culinary Therapy awakens the healing energies and confidence that comes from creative personal expression, tactile/sensory connection, family, community, tradition, the acts of giving and receiving etc, and combines them with healthy and easy food preparation to create nourishment for the body, mind and soul.

Sunrise Mother’s Day Yoga Class

Presented by Swarovski, The Libby Ross Foundation, OM yoga and the Top of the RockObservation Deck at Rockefeller Center

Swarovski, the world leader in cut crystal, The Libby Ross Foundation, OM yoga and the Top of the Rock Observation Deck at Rockefeller Center partnered together to help win the fight against breast cancer in honor of Mother’s Day.

Forty mothers, daughters and sisters who have been touched by breast cancer were brought together at a Sunrise Yoga class set against the breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline on Thursday, May 8th, 2008 at the Top of the Rock Observation Deck at Rockefeller Center.

The gentle and restorative OM yoga class, taught by OM certified yoga teachers,focused on breathing techniques and gentle movements that helped integrate body and mind and allowed breast cancer survivors of all stages and ages to share this unique, empowering experience with their loved ones while enjoying the sweeping 360-degree views of New York City from Top of the Rock.

In addition, a group of creative celebrities joined the cause to raise additional funds by decorating yoga bags with Swarovski jewels that were listed on eBay with eBay Giving Works, the dedicated program for charity listings, from May 5-15, 2008 at ( Celebrities included Courtney Cox Arquette, Miley Cyrus and Martina McBride. Global Design Concepts, Inc. generously donated the yoga bags.
